Daniel J. Christmas, IV, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 26, 2013. He was a resident of Coinjock, NC, and previously lived in Chesapeake, VA.
He served in the U. S. Army, and worked for the Portsmouth Shipyard. He was also a firefighter in Chesapeake, and went on to be a 1st Sargent for the Chesapeake Police Department, where he served for 28 ½ years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shelby J. Christmas; son, Daniel J. Christmas, V, and wife Chandra; daughter, Dana J. Santoro and husband Michael, Sr.; son, John Christmas and wife Jennifer; sister, Merry Gaddy and husband David, and their son, David Jr. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Samantha Santoro, John Kyle, Cayla, Lauren, Logan, Jenna, Colt and Clay Christmas, and adopted son Ronnie Dixon and wife Shirley and their family.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Temple Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. After the graveside, a reception will be held at Southside Baptist Church, 917 Carolina Road, Suffolk, VA. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
