Obituary for Kevin J. Kessler

Kevin J. Kessler, 55, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away October 31, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.

Born on May 29, 1963, in Baltimore, MD. Kevin graduated from Brewbaker Academy and Virginia Wesleyan of Norfolk, VA. He was an EXCEPTIONAL husband, father, son and friend. Our hearts are broken and our world will never be the same. We will carry on with the same courage and fearless determination he showed in the face of cancer.

Those that knew Kevin were embraced with kindness, warmth, thoughtfulness, his huge smile, addictive laugh and the biggest hug that left you feeling welcomed. He did everything at 100%. He wasted no time. If you do it now you can rest later he would always say. He was the best financial advisor, always ahead of the game planning for our future. He was an outstanding softball pitcher and regretted having to throw in the towel at age 50. A Top Notch party thrower from his early Kesslerfest years to the present. If you were invited to a Kessler party you knew you were going to be having the greatest food, music and time! No matter how far his travels took him he always put his family first and never missed his sons sporting events. He loved his sons tremendously.

The past 30 years Kevin worked as a manufacture sales rep for Creative Sales, a family business. He loved his job and all his customers. He was the BEST at what he did and will remain an icon within the Floral and Craft industry.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Henry F Kessler and step-father, Edward Palmer. Left to cherish is memory is his loving wife and soul-mate of 24 years, Tracy Kessler; his sons, Cameron and Carson Kessler; his mother, Emilie Palmer of Virginia Beach; brothers, Christopher Kessler (Lorri), Jason Kessler, both of NC, and David Palmer (Tammy); sister, Andrea Cantor (Stu) all of NY, his mother-in-law, Jean Sbardella of Chesapeake; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital Oncology Unit and Intrepid Hospice for their compassionate care and comfort Kevin received during this time.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kevin’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at
