Obituary for Kenneth Louis Handy

Kenneth Louis Handy, 78, of Chesapeake, VA, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home and was welcomed into God’s Kingdom on November 29, 2018.

Born in Henry County, VA, on May 3, 1940, Kenneth was the son of Bennie and Zula May Handy. He was a construction superintendent from 1963 – 2001 working first for R.D. Lambert and Son and later for McKenzie Construction.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia “Ginnie” Handy; their daughter, Cheryl Stockton; son-in-law, Timothy Stockton; and a grandson, Alexander Stockton.

The family would like to thank compassionate care and quality of life senior mission for all the amazing care they gave Kenneth during his final months and the support they provided the family daily.

The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Thomas L. Mercer, Sr., at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611 or by phone at 888-733-6741.
