Obituary for Kathleen Edmondson Worsley

Kathleen Edmondson Worsley passed away October 1 while a resident of Bay Lake Retirement and Assisted Living, Virginia Beach, VA.

She was born to the late E. Graham and Fannie Brent Parrish on January 4, 1923, in Tyro, Virginia. She is predeceased by her three sisters Marie Kidd, Louise Pitchford, and Frances Patterson, her son Glen T. Edmondson, her husbands Oscar T. Edmondson and William E. Worsley, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are daughter Jane Edmondson Quesenberry and son-in-law “Sonny,” two grandsons Brent T. Quesenberry (Alayna Cook) and Blair P. Quesenberry (Elizabeth) and four great grandchildren William, Joseph, Remi, and Reid. Also stepson William E. Worsley, Jr. (Mickey) and grandchildren Claire Worsley and Leslie Fannon Zhang.

As an adventurous young girl from Nelson County, she left home at the age of 16 to get her college education and teaching degree from Madison College and eventually her Master’s Degree from William & Mary. While teaching business education classes at Kempsville High School she met and married Oscar, a Navy Chief from Princess Anne County. and lived on both coasts as a Navy wife.

As a young stay-at-home mother she was an active member of Haygood Methodist Church, the Chesapeake Beach Woman's Club, and a Girl Scout leader. She returned to teaching at Princess Anne High School where she taught for 20 years and served as Chairman of the Business Education Department. Retiring in 1984 she enjoyed traveling with Bill, her second husband, and joined the United Methodist Women serving as President for seven years. She also became an active member and served as President of the Princess Anne Woman’s Club.

She loved traveling, socializing, and being involved in the community always stressing service to others. In her words, “I was born in the best of times and have had and am having a wonderful time.”

The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel Thursday, October 4, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The burial will be at Rosewood Memorial Park at 1 p.m. Friday, October 5, followed by the funeral service at Haygood United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the building fund at Haygood United Methodist Church.
