Sue Mertins Everett, 71, beloved Wife, Mom, Grandma, and friend of many, born November 27, 1938, passed into the arms of her heavenly Father on January 14, 2010. Though our family is profoundly saddened by Sue's passing, we know she is free of any and all discomfort experienced over the last year.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Charles Ballard Everett, Jr.; beloved children and grandchildren, Charles Timothy Everett and his children April and Kevin Everett, Cynthia Sue Everett Bowman and Dan Lackey, Christopher Allen Everett and Kristan McCall Everett and their children Chase and Taylor Everett, all of Virginia Beach, VA and Mark Bryan Everett and Lori Smith Everett and their children Joshua and Ryan Everett of Chesapeake, VA.
Sue was blessed with a multitude of special friends whose love enabled her to confront her challenge with courage and dignity. Sue never met a stranger she could not befriend and always gave more then she ever received. Sue was special to all and always loved making her specialty desserts and wonderful meals for her family especially during Christmas season, her favorite time of the year. Sue was dedicated to God and family and most notable about her was her unconditional and eternal love for all she touched throughout the years.
On Sue's behalf, our family would like to acknowledge the volunteers, staff members, nurses and physicians of Virginia Oncology Associates, the Transitional Care Center within DePaul Medical Center, the Sentara Home Care Services Hospice program, as well as, the dedicated and tireless effort of the Seniorcorp Caregivers that ensured her dignity remained intact.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 16th, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel in Virginia Beach, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, our family requests monetary contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Sue. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
