Lois Butterfield Schubart, 83, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away peacefully March 4, 2013. Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Frederick John Schubart Jr.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her children, Scott Schubart and his wife Sue Ann, Debbie Schubart Kruger and her husband Mark, Jeff Schubart; grandchildren, Ryan Schubart and his wife Tamara, Lauren and Amy Kruger, Karson Schubart and Elliot Tyson; great grandchildren, Reyna and Chase Tyson, Maxwell and Harrison Schubart; sisters, Ann Braden and Gloria Rathkamp of Cincinnati, OH; and good friend, Lisa Myers.

Lois was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach since 1969. She served on the Alter Guild as a Devout Servant to the Administration, and her very special friend, Mary West. Lois started her teaching career in the Day School as a volunteer, and continued through teaching and administrative work with the school.

Lois's love of animals, great and small will always be remembered. The Indian mound in her back yard is the final resting place for several family and Day School pets. She found joy in watching her birds, and the ducks that returned year after year, to eat from her hand. She was loved and will be missed by all creatures great and small.

A celebration of her life will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church on Woodside Lane in Virginia Beach at 11 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church or Ocean Park Volunteer Rescue Squad. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
