Mary Margaret “Peggy” Anderson Schlaht, 81, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away February 10, 2018.

Born in Pettry, WV, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Clendon Anderson and Mary Marie Noble Snellings. She was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant and taught sewing classes at the old Sears department store on High Street in Portsmouth.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Orland William Schlaht, Sr.; step-mother, Easter Virginia Anderson; step-father, Robert Leamon Snellings; brother, Robert Clendon Anderson. Left to cherish her memory: two daughters, Dorothy Lyne Allen (Thomas) of St. John, VI, and Sandra Jean Shires (Anthony) of Florida; two sons, Orland William “Bill” Schlaht, Jr., of Portsmouth, VA and Kevin Gilbert Schlaht (Dawn) of Washington state; granddaughter, Ashley Romine (Adam) of Florida; grandson, Benjamin Schlaht of Washington state; step-grandson, Johnathan Cartwright of Suffolk, VA; great-grandson, Alexander Romine of Florida; a brother, Gilbert Anderson (Barbara) of Princeton, WV; and her special friends, Cathy and Jerry Guerrero and Sherri Consa.

The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Hwy. Chapel, on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com
