Obituary for Dana Bannerman Woods

Dana Bannerman Woods, 54, of Newport News, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benny L. and Katherine G. Bannerman. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Bruce Woods; her three daughters, Jennifer Stayrook (Joe Stayrook), Catherine Pelletier (Alan Chavez), and Laura Woods (Juan Toxtle); six grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers, Gayle Reske of Virginia Beach, Susan Romano of Nags Head, North Carolina, Benny Bannerman of Virginia Beach, Berkeley Bannerman of Chesapeake, and Brian Bannerman of Virginia Beach; and eight nieces and nephews.

Dana was a beloved employee of Angelo’s Restaurant in Newport News for over 25 years. An avid lover of music, horses, and her family, Dana was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, 1457 Independence Blvd. Virginia Beach, VA 23455. A celebration of life will follow at the same location at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” -Thomas Campbell
